Syphilis test is used for the qualitative detection of syphilis (Treponema pallidum antibody) in blood, which is a bacterial sexually transmitted disease. Unsafe sexual contact with someone who has Syphilis carries a risk of infection. Untreated syphilis is a very dangerous disease that can spread to the heart, blood vessels, brain, eyes, and legs. In some cases, syphilis may even be fatal. Besides that, a pregnant woman can transmit the infection to the fetus. Syphilis is usually symptom-free for 3-4 weeks. Then, two of the three infected have visible symptoms. The risk of infection is high at the primary and secondary stages of the disease.
For this test, you will have to collect a sample from the genitals with the help of a cotton swab.

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted, bacterial infection that initially causes genital ulcers (sores). If untreated, the disease will progress to more serious stages of infection, including blindness and nerve damage. The disease increases the risk of transmitting as well as getting infected with HIV. It is a systemic disease caused by the spirochete Treponema pallidum subspecies pallidum.
How does the Syphilis test work?
When present in the body, TP induces the production of specific antibodies by the immune system. These circulating antibodies are able to recognize the spirochaete and to stick on them. Syphilis test detects specifically these anti-TP antibodies in the blood and therefore shows the spirochaete presence.
When can this test be used?
Syphilis test should be performed in case of appearance of clinical symptoms, the main ones being chancres and specific rash. The test can be performed at any time of the day.
